Open Data for Open Lands

Access Land is a coalition of 50+ organizations committed to increasing access to America's public land through Open Data.

Open Data is important. It's the reason we can access weather data on our phones, see bus timetables in Google Maps, and search flights from all airlines in one place. We want America’s public parks to be equally as accessible.

Open Data can empower innovators of all kinds to build resources that better connect members of the public to their land. Open Data can unlock access to public land to a greater, more diverse group of people, thereby supporting overall public health by expanding access to nature and raising public park visitation, boosting park revenue, and securing the ongoing relevance and sustainability of our public lands. Open Data is key to inspiring current and future generations of park supporters.

Historic Wins for CA and Federal Government: As a result of widespread public support for greater access, the Federal Government and California State Parks now require Open Data standards in their reservation contracts. Now, it's time to unlock Open Data in your state to make it easier for more people to get outside and enjoy their land.
